Ainsdale Beach lies between Liverpool and Southport in north-west England. The sand dunes, beaches and marshes of the Sefton Coast are some of the most important areas for nature conservation in Europe.
The local authority, government agencies, landowners and community groups have formed a partnership for the sustainable management of the coastal zone. As part of this management system a section of the foreshore at Ainsdale Beach has been designated and managed as the KiteZone. This is the only area on the Sefton Coast where kite buggying, landboarding and kite surfing are permitted.
To use the KiteZone you must hold a valid KZ Permit. AOSPKC does not issue KiteZone Permits for use of Ainsdale Beach, this function is performed by Sefton Council. In order to gain a permit you must book an appointment with the rangers by calling 0151-934-2967 and giving your details. Then visit the office taking proof of insurance to sign up and collect your permit. Appointments can be made for Monday-Friday office hours; Saturday 9am-1pm or Sunday 12pm-4pm.
If you wish to buggy jump you must apply for a KZ-J Permit. The same process applies, with the addition of the need to complete and pass an assessment of your equipment, knowledge and skills as a kite buggier. AOSPKC instructors are sanctioned to perform these assessments, please contact us to arrange your assessment.
